ScholarAdvisor.com opened its doors in 2011, and was launched by college students for college students. We have had several requests to provide a ScholarAdvisor.com review and are doing so with all of our normal procedures. We have looked at the content on the website, ScholarAdvisor testimonials found there, sample writing and blog posts, Scholar Advisor customers’ reviews that we have found on the web and were submitted to us, and the quality of a research paper we ordered. This is our assessment.

Product and Service Quality

We considered several factors to determine quality.

• Content on the site was well organized and written
• Blogs and sample writing were also well written – frankly, we were impressed

Things went downhill from there.

• ScholarAdvisor service reviews out on the web are not positive. Customer complaints range from very poor writing, to old and elementary resources, to lack of responsiveness in addressing concerns
• The research paper w received was also a disappointment. There was not thesis statement; writing quality was poor and indicative of an ESL writer; resources were perhaps suitable for a high school writing piece but not for the college level work we ordered

Expertise of Writers and Customer Support Reps

There is no information about the experience and background of the writers the company uses. Based upon what we found, though, we can say that at least in many instances, the writers are not ENL. And it is obvious that there is little to no quality control to check quality once a piece is written.

Relative to the customer support service, we were able to speak with live people. When we asked questions, however, we had to wait while they checked for answers. This is typical of an answering service, not employed staff. We did ask detailed questions about products. At one point, we were told that they could produce an entire dissertation within five days. This, of course, is impossible.

So, is Scholar Advisor legit? Yes, it is. But there are issues that cause concern – poor quality, no ScholarAdvisor BBB membership, and exaggerated claims.

Pricing and Discount Offers

ScholarAdvisor prices begin at $18.99/page and increase to $34.99/page for Ph.D. dissertation work. This falls within the average range for college and graduate level writing. While we did not find permanent ScholarAdvisor discounts for loyal customers but there is a 20% discount for all new customers and a ScholarAdvisor.com promo code for that. We were told that other discounts were available if they were requested, but who would know to do that?

Miscellaneous Benefits

ScholarAdvisor offers three quality levels and free revisions. While it states that a plagiarism scan is always completed, customers have to pay for a report. There are other perks, too, but they are all fee-based.

Summary and Recommendation

Scholar Advisor sports a great website, and even has links to other resources for students to access. But the key to any writing service lies in the quality of product it produces. In the case of this company, customers will be disappointed. The other issue we have is that claims are exaggerated. Our ScholarAdvisor ratings in both product and service are “poor.”
